WhamTech is excited to announce that it is now a Tableau Technology Alliance Partner, providing security-centric, unique index-adapter based data virtualization software to customers using Tableau products.
Tableau partners with a wide range of leading technology companies in the data and analytics industry to help make the most of customer’s analytics investments. Tableau partners’ tools work seamlessly with Tableau so people can collect, store, transform and connect to the data that is important to them. Existing Technology Alliance Partners include Cloudera, Denodo, Google Cloud and Informatica. Existing Tableau customers include JP Morgan Chase, PepsiCo, Lufthansa, Wells Fargo and Seagate.
WhamTech’s unique indexed-based distributed data virtualization, SmartData Fabric® (SDF), enables Tableau to run across multiple data sources as if one data source, self-serve users, and offer advanced data access and security. SDF usually leaves data in sources and provides distributed data federation and integration, in addition to data virtualization. SDF plugs-and-plays in existing IT architectures, and complements and leverages existing IT systems, tools and applications.
SDF uniquely leverages the power of indexes and indexed views that can be maintained in-sync with data sources in near real-time, among other options, and are key to enabling significant capabilities and multiple advanced solutions. Examples of solutions include self-serve reporting, BI and analytics, GDPR and other single views of all data associated with people (customers, employees, patients, etc.) and other entities, virtual data warehouse/mart, near real-time operational dashboards, supply chain management, revenue cycle management, anti-money laundering and micro-services architecture.
WhamTech and a large government defense contractor have invested significant resources in developing SDF to work in a highly secure manner with Tableau and other applications, against one and more data sources as if one data source. WhamTech has enabled Active Directory-based security, including Single Sign-On (SSO) using Kerberos, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Row-Level Security (RLS) within single domains and across multi-domains. This is in addition to data security and secure results data delivery. SDF has become a secure gateway to all data sources and data, whether data source systems support any security protocols or not, or whether they have index-based adapters or not. Tableau can safely submit queries to SDF for query execution and thereby avoid the need to create a data extract for Tableau to submit queries to.
The combination of enabling multiple types of near real-time updateable indexes/indexed views and executing Tableau queries, in parallel with high performance, directly on data source adapters without first extracting data accelerates query execution and Tableau report generation. One of the future efforts with Tableau is to test WhamTech’s data monitoring and event processing to automatically update Tableau operational dashboards as significant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) change.
WhamTech looks forward to continuing to develop the relationship with Tableau, as customer expectations lead to additional advanced features.
