The market for data virtualization is growing exponentially; from an estimated $1.58 billion in 2017 to an expected $4.12 billion by 2022, a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 21.1%. The generation of large volumes of data from disparate sources in multiple locations are major contributors driving the growth of the data virtualization market.
Associated with these large volumes of data is a realization that you cannot afford to physically copy ALL data to a centralized location, e.g., data lake or data warehouse (DW), and most Big Data projects fail – in fact, only 15% make it to production. Then add in these additional factors as well:
- Large number of diverse data sources that cannot easily be ETL’d into a DW, e.g., unstructured and IoT device data
- Increasingly diverse and multiple locations for data: On-premise, multiple Clouds, data centers, SaaS, government and IoT devices
- Multiple data sources may not belong to, and are not managed by, organizations, e.g., network providers in healthcare and SaaS/Salesforce
Because of the limitations of conventional data virtualization, most organizations see data virtualization (DV) as complementing a core integration strategy instead of replacing it, e.g., DW + DV. The answer lies in WhamTech’s SmartData Fabric® security-centric distributed virtual data, master data and graph data management, and analytics solutions. For example, one of the largest IT integration companies in the US sees WhamTech as replacing their EDW with a virtual EDW, because they recognize our DW-level capabilities.
About WhamTech
WhamTech, Inc. is a software company whose mission is to develop security-centric distributed virtual data, master data and graph data management, and analytics technology software products. WhamTech develops these products to anticipate, meet and exceed the demands of customers seeking an alternative to the conventional approaches of data warehouses, federated data access with conventional adapters and Enterprise Search. WhamTech’s goal is to provide an improved and more seamless way to work with data, by leaving it in sources and changing the way fundamental and advanced data management is addressed.
