How do I get a Desktop Icon that goes straight into my Application?
If you launch your application right from the desktop then the users experience is as follows: He/She double-clicks the application icon and the next point of control is in your application with the data base open and at your top-of-the-line Menu.
To create an application icon:
Right-click in the sea of the Windows desktop. A menu pops up.
Select New (click on New). A submenu appears.
Select Shortcut. A dialog pops up.
Where is says "Command line" enter:
Full-Path-to-Thunderbolt Full-Path-of-Application-Interface
For example, a command line for a desktop icon to the example
data base might look like:
c:\thunder\ddlp.exe c:\thunder\apps\example
This presumes that you installed Thunderbolt in C:\THUNDER.
Suppose you had a data base application named INVOICES on
drive D in the folder named SYSAPPS. Then the command line
would look like:
c:\thunder\ddlp.exe d:\sysapps\invoices
Again, the presumption is Thunderbolt is at C:\THUNDER. If not,
then enter the correct drive and folder names leading up to
DDLP.EXE.
Click Next. Enter the name that will title the icon (e.g., INVOICES).
Click Finish.
Thats it. You now have an icon on your desktop that will directly invoke the application. If you want to change the icon or rename its title you can right click on your new icon to get its properties to make the changes.
